Kick Traditional Heating Systems to the Curb
Affordable
Radiant Floor Heating is Here to Stay
Traditional
heating systems had their place back in a day and age
when little was known about radiant heat and the
inherent benefits of using it to heat a home.
Unfortunately traditional forced
air heating systems are at a distinct
disadvantage because they used heat to warm the
surrounding air. When only air is heated that means that
the warmest heat rises to the ceiling, making this
type of heating somewhat inefficient and costly.
Having the warmest air at the top of your primary
living space is not an efficient way to heat your home.
Radiant
floor heating
is becoming the top choice when heating a
home, or complementing your existing system as it
utilizes the opposite principles of traditional forced
air heating and baseboard heating
systems.
|
Radiant floor heat
efficiently provides comfortable warmth.
|
Underfloor
heating systems distribute comfortable
warmth evenly across the floor, allowing the heat to
rise naturally and generate consistent warmth in
the entire room. For you, the consumer, this means
warmer air at a lower cost. Radiant
heat uses smart technology that starts heat
flowing on the ground where you need and want it
most. The warmth that a heated
floor system provides offers comfort and
delight and can be installed under almost any type of
floor surfaces including wood,
tile,
and carpet. Many floors can also be retrofitted
with radiant heat. It’s time
to consider kicking the dinosaur heating systems to the
curb and getting on board with radiant floor
heating which is definitely here to stay.

Have you ever
gone on a ski vacation for the weekend and stayed at a
little ski lodge? A lot of the times, they’ll have a
huge fireplace in the main room with smaller bedrooms
up in the loft area or second-story. But the problem
is that when you’re in the main room with the roaring
fire, you’re often overwhelmed by the heat and
retreat to the bedroom, where it’s far
chillier. You see, many vacation or weekend homes
weren’t built with air conditioning ducts with
which to deliver the heat to the different rooms of
the house. However, there is a solution to adding
heating to homes that have not been built for traditional
forced air systems: radiant heaters.
As opposed to warm air systems (such as a forced
air unit heaters), radiant heaters deliver the source
of heat to the floor level, not the ceiling. Radiant
heaters or radiant energy is the oldest form of heating
used to provide comfort and is the basis for all
heating systems.
Additionally, radiant heaters also offer more
comfort than forced air heating by heating the
atmosphere from the ground up. Since heat rises, the
heat will be more evenly distributed, providing a much more
comfortable atmosphere.
Radiant Heaters Tip: Radiant energy is
totally pure radiation and is absorbed by an object
without physical contact with the heat source or by
heating the surrounding air, as is the case with
convective, forced air systems.

Automated Snow Sensors
High-Tech
Snow Switches for Heated Driveways and Roof Deicing
Systems
Are you
contemplating radiant heat for your next home
improvement project? Equipped with high-tech snow
switches, radiant heated
driveways and gutter systems are fully automated,
making them efficient and effortless when it comes
to snow removal.
The automated
snow switch detects temperature and moisture conditions
to initiate ice- and snow melting systems at the
first signs of inclement weather. Depending upon
what you’re heating, there are two general types
of sensors.
An
in-pavement (ground) sensor mounts in the concrete,
asphalt, or pavers of your driveway or walkways,
making it very indicative and accurate of the
driveway conditions and includes many programmable
features including:
- Electronic on/off control up to 11 KW
- 2 zone control with zones that can be
individually controlled
- Economical control
- Temperature and moisture detection
- Control of electrical or hydronic
(water-based) ice and snow melting systems
The aerial
mounted snow sensor activates your snow melting
system only when needed. These sensors are
typically mounted on the roof, and automatically
triggers your heated driveway or gutter snowmelt
system when it detects precipitation and
temperatures are below 39° F. Smart system
compatible, the sensor has several other notable
features, including adjustable temperature trigger
point, adjustable delay off cycle, and upgradeable
remote activation.
That’s
great, you say, but I have a snow removal service
already, so why pay for a fancy system? Snow fall
is unpredictable. Sometimes you wake up to the
stuff, and sometimes it accumulates throughout the day.
Snow removal services are certainly very handy,
but they can’t compete with the reliability
and efficiency of an automated radiant
heated driveway system. With an automated
radiant heated
driveway or gutter system, it’s like
having your very own snow melting service on call,
24/7. There’s no waiting involved, and no
slippery patches of ice that got overlooked. Automated
snowmelt systems only run when it’s
snowing, eliminating residual or standby operation
costs involved with snow removal services. And most
importantly, they offer the peace of mind that comes
with knowing your driveway and walkways are
completely clear of ice and snow.
If you’re not sure how an automated
snow melting switch fits into your radiant heat
snow melting project, take heart. Warmzone has the
experience and expertise you’ll need to meet your
project requirements, and can configure an
automated snow melting system with your needs and
budget in mind. To discover more about radiant heat snow
melting systems, contact 888.488.9276 today.

Roof Heating Solutions
Melt Snow
and Ice With a Radiant Roof Heating System
Radiant
heated roof and gutter heating
systems can dramatically enhance the life span
of your roof and protect it from damage caused by heavy
snow and ice accumulation. Older buildings are a visible
testament to the damaging effects of roof ice and
snow that can destroy fronts, roofs, drainpipes,
and gutters. Roofs that have substandard support
structures, and such shortcomings can enable water
to enter the building. As technology improves
insulation value, there is less heat gain from inside
of the building, causing an increased hazard of ice
damage and damming on the roof. Once winter frost
sets in, damage is often inevitable. Flat roofs on
industrial buildings often give in to excessive weight
loads generated by accumulations of ice and snow.
This can be prevented by installing a quality
heated roof and gutter deicing system, eliminating
potential damage from snow and ice buildup.
Working with
Warmzone on your roof
heating system installation allows you to
shop a number systems, and find the solution that is
right for your home and your budget.
Warmzone’s low-voltage RoofHeat
roof heating system is another excellent
solution for melting snow and ice from roof eaves,
valleys, and entire roofs. The RoofHeat deicing
system features an extremely thin,
self-regulating, semi-conductive polyethylene heating
element. Embedded between two layers of vinyl, the
panel is protected against UV rays, alkaline or
other potential physical damages for durability.
What’s
great about Roofheat is its versatility. It can be
installed under new or existing asphalt, shake, or
tile shingles, and is ideal for new construction
as well as remodeling projects.Available in rolls 9 or
12-inches wide, the lightweight heating panel can be cut
to size, and nailed or stapled through the
existing roof, making installation quicker and
easier than other traditional roof
heating systems.
You can never
predict the weather, but with a Warmzone roof heating
system, you can often predict the outcome. Prepare
now and say goodbye to pesky snow buildup and ice
damming for good. To find out more about the

For homeowners or
renovators, it’s worth taking a look at several kinds
of radiant heaters for residences or
businesses. Today we’ll discuss the electric
cable heating system kind of radiant heaters.
Electric cable heating systems, often called
line- or high-voltage systems, are gaining popularity
and are ideal for heating smaller areas like
bathrooms, kitchens, and sun rooms. These systems are
comprised of a thermostat and a heating cable. On some
radiant
heater systems, the cable will be shipped to
you as a large spool of cable. These systems are
oftentimes less expensive, and give you the ability to
space the cable how you want and customize a layout that
will heat every square inch of your floor. Other
systems have the cable attached to a plastic mesh or
tape to create a mat to maintain its proper spacing.
Every available radiant heater cable system is
equally effective, so when determining which system to
purchase, you should look at the warranty of the
product, along with the ease of installation. Some cables
must be embedded in a separate layer of concrete or
mortar, whereas other systems can simply be installed
in the thinset.
Most cable systems can only be installed under
tile; on others, if the cable is embedded in mortar or
concrete, any flooring can be installed on top of the concrete.
Radiant Heaters
Tip: When heating smaller areas with a radiant
heater, it is nearly impossible to beat the simplicity
and price of an electric cable heating system.

What are the
Pros and Cons of Radiant Heat and Forced Air Heating
Systems?
A room with
radiant floor heating will have a very uniform temperature
from the ceiling to the floor. Heating a basement floor is
an ideal application for a radiant heat system. If
you've lived in a house with forced air, you know that
you can crank the heat up, but the basement floors
will remain chilled. Installing a radiant floor warming
system will add comfort and warmth to your lifestyle.

Say Goodbye to
Annual Heater Maintenance with Heated Floors
You dread it
every year; the dreaded heater maintenance. It's been
sitting there all summer long, and it's dusty, it's old, and
you just don't want to deal with it. Luckily for you,
there is a way to put an end to your annual heater
maintenance once and for all: radiant floor heating.
Electric
radiant floor heating systems are virtually
maintenance free. That's right, with absolutely no
effort from you, heated floors bring you unparalleled
comfort at an affordable price.
Traditional home
heating methods require a daunting list of tasks you
should perform yearly to keep them running properly. With electric radiant
floor heat, however, all of these annual tasks
can be eliminated from your schedule.
Comparing some
performance features and maintenance tasks of forced air
heating and radiant heat systems:
|
Conventional Heating Systems

Radiant Floor Heating Systems
|
| Make sure the
pilot light is lit. |
No pilot lights
here. |
| Clean or replace
your furnace filter regularly. If you don't do this,
your heater has to use more energy and work harder,
sending your bill through the roof. |
No messy filters
required. Just a silent radiant heating system that
efficiently warms up the house. |
| To Heat Only the
Areas that you want to Warm
Close the ducts to the rooms where you
don’t want heat.
Unfortunately, most ducts are not air tight, and
heat escapes into areas where you
don't want/need it.
|
Radiant heating
systems can be controlled in zones, with each
zone/room controlled by its own thermostat. Radiant
floor heating thermostats are also fully
programmable, so you can program the
floors to warm just before you get up each morning,
or activate and shutoff according to your
schedule. |
| Call a
professional to clean and inspect your furnace every
year. Brush and vacuum the exchanger
surfaces and blower blades. |
Save your money.
Electric radiant floor heating systems are
maintenance free. |
| Also, make sure
your gas furnace is inspected to make sure no
harmful Carbon Monoxide fumes are
escaping. A furnace that is not
running at peak performance can be deadly.
Virtually every gas furnace
produces Carbon Monoxide, which is
usually carried away from your home through the
furnace’s venting
|
No such issues
with radiant heat systems. |
The bottom line
is this: You don't have to limit your decision to one
heating system. Many homeowners have installed radiant heat
simply to supplement their traditional heating systems
in an effort to manage their heating costs. Radiant heat can be
used to efficiently warm the areas in your house where you
spend most of your time, and dramatically reduce the
demands of your furnace and blower.
With all the
extra costs you rack up with conventional heating system
maintenance, perhaps it’s time to consider installing
radiant heat.
Install floor heating in your home today and see the
difference it makes for your wallet and your home.

Yes, it might take a little effort, but being
more environmentally friendly doesn’t
have to involve major renovations. Many people waste a
lot of energy by not sealing cracks, doors and windows.
Checking to make sure a home’s insulation
is in good shape and replacing it if it’s
not is another good surefire way to stop, prevent, and
reverse energy waste.
Quite simply put, radiant
heaters are the most efficient form of heat
available in today’s market.
Significantly less operating time is required to attain
and maintain the desired warmth compared to
furnaces and other, traditional methods of
heating, which keeps operational costs to a minimum.
High efficiency boilers or
electric radiant floor systems makes radiant
heat one of your most efficient ways to heat your
home. Combined with a well-insulated home these
systems can quickly warm your home and then shut
down or wait idle for long periods of time before being
called upon by the thermostat to operate. Don’t
waste expensive heating fuel another day.
Radiant Heaters Tip: More than ever before,
homebuilders, househunters, and home renovators alike are
looking for energy-efficient heating options for
houses. We say they need look no further than radiant
heaters for their ideal home heating solution.

It's Time to
Consider Radiant Heat
I did not grow up
in the era when you could hear “read all about
it” on every corner on your way home from work
as small boys peddled papers touting the days big news
stories. Even so, it makes me feel nostalgic for a
time I didn’t get to enjoy but have heard about many
times. I can be a part of the movement that says
“hold the press” although print is
becoming less mainstream now than digital. Since we are in a
digital age I guess the more accurate way to tell you
to stop what you are doing is “drop that
keyboard and step away from your computer.” At least
then I’d have time to share the exciting fact
that
radiant heating
is more affordable than ever. In theory it has always
sounded so appealing to enjoy the many benefits of radiant
heating, both indoors and out. Many enjoy heated
driveways, while many others enjoy heated floors.
Radiant heated
driveways and radiant heated floors alike have much
to offer a home in terms of home improvement and the
level of enjoyment you’ll get from each product.
The even better
news starts here, so I hope you didn’t tune me out as
I rambled on and on about stopping the presses and
dropping your keyboards. Now radiant heating is more
affordable than ever. It has become a popular home
improvement choice for homeowners who want to add value and
comfort to their home without laying out a lot of cash
to do it. Contact a

If you’ve ever stayed in a fancy hotel
and felt the warm tile beneath your feet
you’ve probably wondered how they heat the
tile.Well, it’s actually pretty simple
using radiant
heaters. Radiant heaters are economical, and easy to
install.This is how they work.
When a radiant heat system is
switched on, energy is forced through a
conductive material to create resistance or heat.
Majority of the time an electronic line-voltage
system is used. This system uses a special
thermostat that has an integrated GFCI breaker for
safety.
Dry radiant floor systems
allow even heating throughout the entire floor.
The heat radiates from the floor and warms objects near
the floor as opposed to forced hot air that
tends to rise to the ceiling. Radiant
heaters heat while reducing dust, draft, and noise
problems associated with forced air systems.
They can be more aesthetically pleasing than
other forms of heating because there are no heat
registers or radiators to obstruct interior designs.
Manufacturers claim radiant floor heating saves
20 to 40 percent on monthly heating bills as
compared to the other heating appliances.
Mostly the radiant heat panels are attracted to the sub
floor using approximately 10 screws per panel.
Manufacturer recommendations include screwing and
fastening adhesive when installing the panel. An
electrometric bonding material is placed in the grooves
prior to tube installation. The tube is pressed into
the groove flush with the surface of the panel. Though
the installation does not take much time, you may want
to consult the professionals at warmzone.com if
you’re considering installing your own radiant
heating system.

Recently John Thiffault of Carriage Lane
Homes was recognized by the Canada Mortgage
and Housing Corporation for building homes that
maximize health and efficiency. So what is it about
Thiffault’s homes that set them apart
from other homes, and make them safer and more
efficient?Well, Radiant
Heaters are one way.
Health Benefits. Radiant
heaters improve the air quality, which is
important, especially for anyone who suffers from either
dust allergies or asthma. The heated towel rails
provide ample heat alleviating a breeding ground
for germs to multiply not to mention the added
benefit of not having change filters or clean heat
ducts.
Health experts also claim that
radiant heaters can help in eliminating dust
mites that live in our homes, and since dust mites love
a warm moist environment, towel heaters aid in
maintaining a consistent room temperature and
keep it moisture free. Furthermore, mold and mildew are
also caused from excessive moisture especially in
bathrooms with insufficient ventilation.By
placing radiant heaters or a radiant heat towel
rack in the bathroom you can combat the spread of germs
for only pennies a day.
Efficiency. Radiant
heaters are the most efficient form of heat
available. Significantly less operating time is required
to maintain the desired warmth compared to
furnaces and other methods of heating keeping
operational costs to a minimum. High efficiency boilers
or electric radiant floor systems makes radiant heat one
of your most efficient ways to heat your home.
Coupled with a well insulated home these systems
can quickly warm your home and then shut down or wait
idle for long periods of time before being called upon
by the thermostat to operate.
