If you are looking for a great way to save
energy, and maximize comfort, then radiant
heaters may be the perfect solution. Installing radiant
heaters in a home under construction or in an
existing home is proven to cut heating costs. It
works by putting water lines in the
home’s concrete floors or under existing floors
and running hot water through them. Radiant
heaters help to keep the whole house at a more
constant temperature. In this way, our regular heaters
don’t have to do as much to keep things
warm and toasty during the winter.
Switching to radiant
heaters will not only help save energy, and lower
heating costs, but it ads to comfort as well.
That is because it put the heat at our feet,
which are generally cold, and offers cooler air near
head level, where we are generally a little
warmer.
Many times, what first springs
to mind when people think of eco-friendly energy
and heating is solar power. While solar panels are
expensive, there are other eco-friendly ways to cut your
power bill. In fact, energy savings can be found
right beneath your feet:
radiant
heaters.
Radiant Heaters Tip: Many people waste a
lot of energy by not sealing cracks, doors and
windows; checking to make sure a home’s
insulation is in good shape and replacing it if it’s
not is another good way to stop energy waste.

The Latest Trends in Home Improvement
Radiant
Heated Floors - Home Remodeling Trends You can Really
Warm up to
CBS
Moneywatch.com recently identified twelve trends in home
remodeling for 2011. The hottest
projects—bathrooms, must-do remodeling and warmer
interior design projects made the top three, with green
living coming in at number nine. With growing
concerns over rising fuel prices and carbon
footprints, it’s not surprising that more and
more homeowners are investing in their homes to
cut fuel consumption. Installing Warmzone radiant
heated
floors is a great way to keep up with remodeling
trends and recoup on home improvement costs.
How does radiant heat
work? Heated floors radiate heat from the
floor up to keep you warm and comfortable when cold
weather sets in. Two types of systems—electric heat
cable and hydronic
(water-based) tubing systems—when installed
in the subfloor of your home act as heating elements to
warm the surface above. These heating
cables/tubing coordinate with a thermostat and
sensors, as do traditional forced air systems, to
provide heat to your home.
Warmzone radiant heat is green heat. Powered by
electricity, electric radiant
heat cables can heat a surface in 30 to 60 minutes.
Unlike forced air systems, they are room specific.
With the help of sensors and a programmable
thermostat you can heat one room, or heat them all
quickly and efficiently, saving money on your
monthly gas bill. And unlike forced air systems,
they do not belch out the dust and dirt that compromises
air quality in your home.
A radiant heated floor installation
equals cheap equity. Heated
floors give your home an impressive level of comfort
and customization with minimal investment. Not
sure you want to install heated floors throughout
you home just yet? Warmzone offers a variety of heat cable
products that can be easily installed under the
subfloor of any room in your home, whether it be
bathroom tile, wood or even carpet.
If, as CBS
Moneywatch.com suggests, the over-arching remodeling
trend for 2011 is to tackle small projects while
you wait to do the really big remodeling project
that’s on your list, why not start by installing
heated flooring in your home. Unlike
other “one-size-fits-all” radiant heat
providers, Warmzone offers an array of radiant
heated flooring solutions designed to
better match your individual project, and your budget.
The good news—many of these floor
heating products can be installed by
do-it-yourself homeowners.

Heated Driveways and Roof Deicing
The Hottest
New Trends in Home Remodeling
Among the hottest types of projects listed in the
2011 CBS Moneywatch.com twelve trends in home remodeling
are the “must do” and green
remodeling projects. If you are finally replacing your
roof or pouring a new driveway, consider
incorporating a snow
melting system into your project list. Radiant heat
is green heating technology that actually enhances
the life of your roof or driveway without
impacting your overall fuel consumption.
Warmzone roof deicing
systems are designed to prevent the buildup of snow,
ice and large icicles around roof eaves, drains
and valleys, preventing damage to your roof and
the potential for injury from falling icicles. And you
have several roof
heating options to choose from. How
it works—a Warmzone RoofHeat
heating element is embedded between two layers of
vinyl, which serve as protection from UV rays and other
potential physical damage. Lightweight, flexible
and easy to install, these panels can be placed
under new or existing asphalt, shake or tile shingles,
making roof
heating a low-cost, viable home remodeling
project.
Installing a
heated
driveway is another way to add safety,
convenience and efficiency to your household while
building equity. Warmzone cable is available in
pre-configured mats, making easy to roll out under
newly poured driveways or pavers. The cable generates
heat with the help of an automatic
sensor that detects inclement weather and
activates the system. It immediately detects
changes in temperature and moisture associated with snow
and similar weather conditions to warm up
your driveway so it’s clear before
your boots (or tires) ever see the pavement.

Whether you
choose an electric
radiant heat snow melting system for your
roof or your driveway, you’ll also have the
peace of mind that comes with green living. Protecting
your roof from inclement weather and damage keeps
heat in, so your furnace doesn’t have to
work as hard, saving you in fossil fuel costs. A
Warmzone radiant heated
driveway system also saves your driveway from damage
caused by harsh snow melting chemicals or the
scraping of snow removal equipment, plus the
energy you expend clearing them, whether you’re
pushing a gas-burning snow blower, or shoveling.
Snow
and ice melt systems provided by Warmzone
deliver first class performance, efficiency, ease
of installation and energy conservation.
Partnering with Warmzone to complete your home
improvement project means you’ll get the valuable
input from radiant
heat professionals needed to find a
perfect solution for your heating requirements
that’s within your budget, so you can save some
green!

Snow Melting
Systems: Technology For the Ages
While radiant
heated driveways are viewed as a relatively modern
convenience, you might be surprised to know that radiant
heat has been around since antiquity. The Romans
actually utilized raised-slab floors and an exterior
wood fired furnace to heat their villas. As hot gases
from the furnace would enter the house below floor level,
they were naturally drawn through the floors up and
out of the walls, radiating heat along the way.
Of course,
radiant heat technology has come a long way. Durable, easily
installed and inconspicuous, it clears the driveways and
sidewalks we travel on, and warms our floors (along
with our soles). Great news if you’ve ever
considered a heated driveway in your future!
Today's heated driveways are made up of three
main elements: the heating element, the controller and
the snow sensor or activation device. Controlled by
either a wall-mounted control box, snow melting
systems can be activated manually; or, with the help of
sensors, automatically as conditions change.
ClearZone radiant
heat cable comes with several benefits. Safely
installed in new concrete pours, under pavers and in harsh,
high-temperature new asphalt projects, it delivers unmatched
durability. ClearZone cable can be customized to meet
performance and space requirements for virtually any
snowmelt project. Featuring a unique, maintenance-free
design, a 10-year manufacturers warranty and the
quickest response time, ClearZone cable is built to
consistently outperform the competition.
Warmzone's
compact 6 x 3.5-inch wall-mounted snowmelt control unit
monitors the activity of the entire heated driveway system.
The snowmelt control unit can be switched on/off
(standby) and the heating system can be forced on in
case of blowing snow or ice formation due to wind or
shade. It features manual override capability, and can also
be controlled using an external signal, from a
day/week timer, GSM-module or other signal source.
When moisture is
present and the preset temperature is reached, it is the
snow sensor—whether aerial-mounted or mounted within
the pavement—that relays the information to the
controller to activate the snow melting system. Once
the trigger temperature is set, the sensor switch will only
activate a radiant heated driveway when needed, saving
energy and operating costs.
As radiant heat
technology has evolved, the ease of installation and the
chief benefits of snow melting systems--efficiency and
convenience--make heated driveways more compelling
than ever. Warmzone can install heated driveways
during pre- or post-construction phases, in almost any
medium. The good news—with so much expertise
and experience, Warmzone can easily customize a
snowmelt system solution that’s right for you, and
your budget.

The Benefits of Radiant Heat
Radiant heat
is thought by many to be a fairly new
technology that is just now beginning to take hold in
Northern America. While radiant heat was initially
more accepted in Europe, increasing numbers
of contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada are
becoming more familiar with installing radiant heat. But
did you know that radiant heat technology was
actually being used as early as 10,000 B.C. in
China?
The ancient
Chinese drafted smoke from fires through stone covered
trenches in the floors of their subterranean dwellings.
The hot smoke heated the floor stones, radiating
warmth into their living spaces. Evidence of radiant
heated floors based on this principle were
found throughout China and Korea. Radiant floor
heating was also utilized by the Greeks and Romans
as early as 500 B.C.
Radiant heat
technology has evolved considerably since its first use
as early as 10,000 B.C. in China and Korea. (The
Greeks and Romans also used radiant floor heating
as early as 500 B.C.) As homeowners and businesses
have discovered the advantages of radiant heating
systems, demand has skyrocketed and more radiant
heat options have become available. Warmzone
radiant heat solutions have become the trusted choice
among contractors and professional builders
throughout Northern America. When installed
correctly, the benefits of radiant heat can't be beat.
Some of the benefits
of radiant heat include:
Efficiency: Radiant heat is a remarkably
efficient form of heating. Compared to furnaces and
other methods of heating, radiant heat requires
significantly less operating time to maintain the
desired warmth, keeping your costs to a minimum. High
efficiency boilers (for hydronic
systems) or electric radiant
floor heating systems make radiant heat
one of your most efficient ways to heat your home.
Coupled with a well insulated home, radiant
heating systems can quickly warm your
home, and each room can be operated
independently with its own thermostat, further adding to the
efficiency of the system.
Luxurious Comfort: Similar to the rays of
the sun, radiant heat warms objects rather than air to
create a more even heat throughout your home.
Starting with the floor, objects are warmed giving
your home a more inviting feeling as your furniture and
other fixtures lose their chill.
Fully Automated and Maintenance Free:
Electric
radiant heat systems operate silently and
are maintenance free. Warmzone snow
melting systems are fully automated, so homeowners
never have to worry about removing snow or turning the
system on. When conditions warrant, a sensor
triggers the system's controller,
activating the system. Radiant
floor heating systems can also be
programmed to operate around your schedule. You can have
the system turn on before you wake up in the
morning to warm your floors and then shutoff
when you leave for work.
Custom Design:
Radiant heat
systems can be easily customized to suit your
specific needs. From small floor heating projects
to large snow
melting applications, radiant heating
systems can be designed to heat just about any
shape, space or surface type.
Clean, Quite Operation:
Radiant
floor heating systems inherently offer a
superior living environment compared
to conventional forced air. Since there
are no furnaces or blowers, the system operates
silently and dust and allergens are not blown through
the air, keeping your home cleaner and more
peaceful. For those who are especially susceptible
to allergies or respiratory ailments, radiant heat has
proven to offer significant health benefits.

Radiant Heat - A Wise Investment
Installing a
Radiant Snow Melting System - A Smart Choice
Do you often
have customers who are debating whether to install a
radiant floor heating or snow melting system?
Chances are, if they objectively weigh out the
pros and cons or radiant heating, they'll be sure to
want to install a system. A cost-effective
investment and smart way to add value to one's
home is by installing a
heated driveway
(radiant snow melting system). Once
installed, an electric radiant heated driveway provides
low operation costs in the long run, and the
systems are fully automated and maintenance free.
Depending on your location and utility rates, a heated driveway
with an area of 300 square feet usually operates for
under 50-cents per continuous hour of operation.
Snow
melting generally only takes a few hours to
clear a typical driveway when a storm hits.
Driveway heating is
an investment that has demonstrated and visible results.
Not only does it eliminate the need for manual
snow removal – not to mention saving your
back from the rigors of shoveling snow – but it
is a proven way to protect the life of grass and
surrounding vegetation because there is no longer
any need to use salt and harsh snow melting
chemicals. It also extends the life of your
driveway by defending it from chemicals, snow
plows and other traditional abrasive snow removal
methods.
Radiant heated driveways
are fully
automated so you can stay inside where it’s
warm and enjoy your coffee or hot chocolate as you
watch the snow melt as it hits your driveway. An
automatic
snow sensor signals the snowmelt
system’s controller when precipitation is
detected and temperatures are below 39°
Fahrenheit. The controller then sends power to the
embedded heat
cable, rapidly warming the driveway and
keeping it clear of snow and ice. The system shuts off
automatically after the storm. Electric
radiant snow melting systems have an
extremely fast response time, operate silently,
and are maintenance free - and there are several options to choose from when
considering a radiant
snow melting system. There’s really
no better, or easier way to keep your driveway
clear of snow and ice during the winter than with a
radiant heated snow melting system.
The peace of
mind that comes with making a smart purchase is
invaluable right now. We are all looking for ways
to ride out this recession and worrisome economic
climate, but you can still enjoy some of the finer
things in life, and invest wisely in products that will
benefit you for years to come.

Yes, it might take a little effort, but being
more environmentally friendly doesn’t
have to involve major renovations. Many people waste a
lot of energy by not sealing cracks, doors and windows.
Checking to make sure a home’s insulation
is in good shape and replacing it if it’s
not is another good surefire way to stop, prevent, and
reverse energy waste.
Quite simply put, radiant
heaters are the most efficient form of heat
available in today’s market.
Significantly less operating time is required to attain
and maintain the desired warmth compared to
furnaces and other, traditional methods of
heating, which keeps operational costs to a minimum.
High efficiency boilers or
electric radiant floor systems makes radiant
heat one of your most efficient ways to heat your
home. Combined with a well-insulated home these
systems can quickly warm your home and then shut
down or wait idle for long periods of time before being
called upon by the thermostat to operate. Don’t
waste expensive heating fuel another day.
Radiant Heaters Tip: More than ever before,
homebuilders, househunters, and home renovators alike are
looking for energy-efficient heating options for
houses. We say they need look no further than radiant
heaters for their ideal home heating solution.

Hydronic under floor heating are the most
popular form of radiant heaters. This is mainly
because these radiant
heaters have been around the longest. This form of
heating was first used by the Romans, but there
have been significant developments since. In the
most recent hydronic systems, PEX radiant tubing has
been installed in a concrete mass called Gypsum
Concrete or “Gypcrete.” This
method works very well in most applications, but there
have been developments in the installation
process of hydronic under floor radiant
heaters that make it easier to install for certain
situations. This new development is known as a
low-mass or modular board underlayment system.
Rather than embedding the hot water tubing in concrete,
the PEX tubing is laid in the grooves of pre-cut
wood panels. This new method is ideal for
remodeling and most new construction projects.
If you’d like to know more about both types of
hydronic heating systems, contact the expert staff at
warmzone.com. They can help
match your individual project with the best system at the
best price. There isn’t a single system out
there that is an ideal fit for every project, but
there is an ideal system for every project. Also,
because of the relationship that warmzone.com has with the
manufacturers, they can guarantee the lowest price on
the highest quality systems available.
